Has it really been a month??

Yes, I'm afraid it has been a month since my last post!! So much has happened in the last month, some good, some not so good!!

First, my mom. We got word at first that everything looked great!! The margins around the area they removed were clean, super clean in fact! The cancer hadn't spread to her lymph nodes! In fact her surgeon told her that she didn't think any further treatment would be necessary! Then, we got the bad news, while her margins and lymph nodes were clean the cancer was not. They base your need for further treatment on your risk factors. 2 or more and they recommend further treatment. Mom had three risk factors. The first, the aggressiveness of her cancer. On a scale of 1 to 9, 9 being the most aggressive, Mom's was a 9. Second, the size of her tumor. The tumor was 2.5 cm big. Studies show that anything over 2 cm has a greater chance of returning. Third, while the cancer hadn't spread to the lymph nodes yet, it was headed there. The cancer had started spreading into the vascular tissue around the tumor. That tissue contains blood vessels, thus adding another risk factor. So, we found out about 2 weeks ago that she would need chemotherapy. Needless to say, that came as a shock and was a rough day. However, after a good night's sleep and some time to think about it, she's knows it's for the best and is handling it a lot better. A week ago we met with a radiology oncologist who also recommended radiation. After the news about the chemo that "pill" was a lot easier to swallow. So, on May 10th she started chemotherapy. Praise the Lord, she did amazingly well!! She never got nauseated nor did she throw up!! She did get really tired but that sure beats the other!!! She has 3 more treatments and then will start radiation. Please pray that she continues to handle the chemo treatments well. Pray for strength as she fights this horrible disease!!

Second, on Mother's Day we dedicated our two precious babies at church. It was such a sweet time. Here's a few pics...

Nema Grace wearing the same dress that my sister and I were christened in.

The four of us, not the best picture but I wanted to get this post posted!

Beautiful baby girl!

Third, today, we had Zeke's 3rd birthday party!! His birthday isn't until May 28th, which also happens to be Memorial Day, so we had it a week early. He has been talking about it for a week now!! Telling me, "Mama, My friends come and swim!!" He had such a good time and enjoyed himself!! Here's a few pics from the day:

"Cheese!!"

Yummy!!!

Sweet Boy!!

Presents!!

So, I just had to flash back to last year's birthday. My oh my how he's grown in a year!!

We are still in the trenches of potty training around here!! Honestly, I think I say once a week, "I am done! He's going back in diapers!" Arnett then steps in a tells me to keep at it, it's getting better!! He has told us a couple of times he has to go #2 but he still doesn't like to go on the potty. He still won't tell us he has to go pee, so we have to stay on top of him! But, we are still only wearing big boy underwear during the day! I'm praying he gets it soon!! I'm growing a little weary of the messes!! Please pray for us!!

So, in 3 days, this precious little one will turn 4 months old!! I so wish I could slow down the hands of time!! It's going too fast!! Nema Grace is such a good baby!! We transitioned her to her crib a week ago and she's done great!! She started sleeping through the night!! At first I was worried because Zeke didn't do that until I weaned him at 16 months!! I know babies digest breast milk faster, so I was worried something was wrong but after talking to some other Mommies it's a good thing!! So, I'm Praising God for the full night's sleep we've been getting!!! Nema's smiling, cooing, and talking more and more!! She's such a joy and a blessing!!
Happy, healthy baby girl!!
Arnett's busy farming these days!! He's got some millet planted and it's doing good. He's also gearing up for hay season. The garden he and his Dad planted is coming in and we've been enjoying all the fresh veggies!!

That's about all that's going on with us lately. Honestly, it's enough!! Between the children and everything else we stay pretty busy!!! Until next time...
